[ZELJKO UREMOVIC]

Zeljko Uremovic weaves Biblical narratives into his whimsical landscapes. Nothing in his scenes is coincidental; everything is intended. God is always in the center—the center of his paintings and the center of his life. Uremovic says that he is glad to be able to serve God through his painting. He says that if his paintings came from the perspective "of the human reality," then they would be black and grey. But his pictures are far from monotone. He says his color infused work represents the joy he feels in his identity as a child of God.

[PROFILE]

Zeljko Uremovic was born in 1957 in Vinkovci, Croatia. He is a Croat, a painter; above all, however, he is a child of God. In 1982 he finished his studies in painting at the academy of arts in Zagreb where he studied with professor Raoul Goldoni.

Since 1985 his work has appeared in exhibitions in Croatia, Germany (Karlsruhe, Munich, Reutlingen), Holland (the Hague, Rotterdam), France (Cannes) and Switzerland (Langenthal, Baeretswill). In 1990, he won recognition for originality of technique at the exhibition Grand Prix International D ' type Plastique in Nice, France.

Uremovic says that many paintings today are beautiful, but they are simply empty—without content. Uremovic’s paintings are intentionally rich with spiritual meaning derived from Biblical narratives. "My pictures are not pictures, but all picture books," he explains. His primarily hope is to tell others about the God he knows. "We are made of God, we are God of children!"
