connect to God

Q: Is it really true that God has a plan for my life?

A: The central teaching of the church has always been this: God is in charge of the world. The church refers to this idea as the sovereignty of God. People of faith believe they are not in life alone. Christ is the unforsaking presence who walks with them. Christ rules over life to help them make sense of every baffling circumstance. He has gone through every facet of the human pilgrimage through which we must also travel. Further, he promises those who believe that he is in charge of all things and that even those events of our lives that appear random and unconnected are never haphazard. All things are working together for good to those who love God (Romans 8:28).

Russell Crowell’s “Acres of Diamond” was a sermon preached and printed thousands of times to remind us that God has a plan for every life, which is never haphazard. We always live under his watchful eye. “His eye is on the sparrow,” says the hymn, “and I know he watches me.”
